Immigrating to Singapore

Benefits of Being A Singapore Permanent Resident

You always see me writing about the benefits of living in Singapore as a permanent resident. I recommend you look for a professional PR application agency Dream immigration SG to become a Singapore permanent resident. Here are some of the benefits that you too will get as a permanent resident in Singapore!

You get to save on property taxes as a Singapore PR

As a PR, you will pay significantly lower property taxes when it comes to real estate purchases in Singapore. Foreigners will need to pay extremely hefty additional buyer stamp duty taxes in Singapore, which is significant considering how overpriced property in SG already is in general. Foreigners also have the most limited choices when it comes to real estate which they are allowed to purchase.

However, just by being a permanent resident in Singapore, you will be able to reap tax savings of over $100,000 SGD when it comes to most private property purchases. This meant that even if you had to spend $50,000 (which you obviously do not need) on PR application, you would still save big simply by getting your Singapore PR status approved.

You get almost all of the citizens benefits without any of the downsides

As a Singapore PR, you get virtually the same benefits as a full Singaporean citizen get. Medical priority, grants and more. The only things you will not be able to benefit from is buying Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats at first hand subsidized rates. However, from my experience, most Singapore PR live in condos or landed property anyway, so this benefit is pretty much a moot point.

Additionally, as a first generation PR, if you are a guy, you are not obliged to serve in the military. As a permanent resident, the choice of serving is in your hands. Frequently touted as the main and only downside of a Singaporean citizenship, mandatory conscription is not applicable to you. But, you can still join if you wish to. Is that not amazing? You still get to choose to go for it if you want to, but you can avoid this ‘only downside’ of a citizenship by being a Singapore PR.

Able to easily send your children to local Singapore schools

Singapore is well known to have one of the best educational systems in the world. With little to no political interference in schools, Singapore’s schools are designed to churn out the best academic performers in the world. Additionally, Singapore’s schools are also very safe for children – both public and private schools. Therefore, as a Singapore PR, you can utilize this benefit for your children.
